A Quick and Easy Anti-Inflammatory Latte Recipe to Help Boost Your Immune System

When flu season arrives and the sniffles start setting in, nothing beats a warm beverage to help power you through the day. This healthy Pumpkin Spice Latte recipe will not only get you into the autumn spirit but will also provide many wellness benefits. While we can’t promise that it will taste the exact same as the Starbucks version, this recipe packs a much greater nutritional punch to help you reach your health goals.

From cinnamon helping to manage blood sugar and cholesterol, to ginger and nutmeg soothing bloating, nausea, and indigestion, every ingredient counts. Add in turmeric for its powerful anti-inflammatory properties and espresso to lift you out of a sluggish feeling, and you have the perfect beverage combination to tackle this cold season.

Ingredients

  • 250ml milk of choice (dairy or plant-based)
  • ½ tbsp 100% pumpkin purée
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • ⅛ tsp ground cinnamon
  • A pinch of ground ginger
  • A small pinch of ground nutmeg
  • A tiny pinch of ground cloves
  • ½ tbsp maple syrup or runny honey (Optional)

Equipment

  • Small saucepan
  • Whisk or mixing spoon
  • Your favorite mug

Method

  1. Brew the coffee: Extract your 30ml shot of espresso directly into your favourite mug.
  2. Heat the spiced milk: In your small saucepan, combine the 250ml of milk, pumpkin purée, and all of the spices (turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves).
  3. Whisk & simmer: Warm over low heat, whisking constantly until the pumpkin purée dissolves completely and the milk is steaming. Let it simmer gently for 1–2 minutes.
  4. Combine & serve: Pour the hot, spiced pumpkin milk directly over your espresso shot. Stir gently, and if desired sweeten with maple syrup or honey and enjoy!
